Regine Schumann made "Swings" out of fluorescent acrylic, and it’s like she’s bottled light itself. Schumann’s process feels like a dance with transparency and color, turning solid material into something that seems to glow from within. What strikes me is how the color shifts depending on the light. In the darker space, it's all neon blues and greens, but in the light, it's this vibrant, almost electric yellow. It's like the piece is breathing, changing its mood with the environment. The edges are so clean, so precise, contrasting with the organic, wavy forms. That contrast makes me think of Dan Flavin, who used fluorescent lights to redefine space. But where Flavin’s work is often about the industrial, Schumann’s has this playful, almost whimsical quality. It reminds you that art can be both serious and full of joy, and that seeing is always a process of change.
