Friedensreich Hundertwasser made 691A Irinaland Over the Balkans with a screenprinting technique that just sings. There's something about the way Hundertwasser layers colors and forms, how the face in the sky melts into the landscape below, it’s like he's building a world from scratch, one vibrant layer at a time. The greens are particularly gorgeous, swirling lines that pull you into a dreamscape, while the little pops of red and purple give it this playful energy. It’s almost psychedelic, but grounded in this very real sense of place. Look closely at the eyes, how dark and intense they are against the bright yellow of the face. Hundertwasser's work always makes me think of Paul Klee, that same sense of whimsical geometry and deep color. They both show us that art is really just an ongoing, beautiful conversation.
