Romero Britto's "Martini Sunrise" is a celebration of bright colour and bold lines, kind of like a stained-glass window had a baby with a Pop Art print. It’s hard to pin down when it was made, but you can tell Britto wasn't shy about diving into the deep end of the colour pool. The texture is super smooth, almost like the paint was laid down with a squeegee, and those colours are so flat and solid they practically vibrate. I love how each shape is outlined in black, giving it this graphic punch that makes you want to reach out and touch it. Check out the way the little squiggles and dots dance around the edges—it’s like the painting is having a secret party and we’re all invited. It reminds me a bit of Matisse's cut-outs, but with a Miami twist. And maybe a splash of Warhol’s screen prints for good measure! Art is all about remixing, right? Britto's not trying to reinvent the wheel, but he's giving it a fresh spin.
