Biography
Henri J. Zimmerman (1825-1886) was a Dutch printmaker known for his detailed engravings of portraits. Born and died in Amsterdam, Zimmerman is known for his historical portraits such as the portrait of Pieter Claesz. Hooft, a Dutch poet and historian, and the portrait of Joost van den Vondel a Dutch poet and playwright. His works are notable for their realistic depiction of historical figures and the use of fine detail and meticulous technique.
