Monique Orsini's painting emerges as a space where color and gesture collide and coalesce. I can almost see her working on this, pushing the paint around with big brushes, maybe even rags, definitely with feeling. Look at the way she lets the colors bleed and blend, creating these wild, feathery shapes. It's like she's capturing a moment of pure energy. I'm drawn to the sweeping arcs of the brushstrokes, how they create movement and depth. The thin paint allows you to see all these layers and translucent washes, almost like the the forms are breathing. I see echoes of Helen Frankenthaler, especially in the way Orsini handles color and creates these atmospheric washes. But she's also doing her own thing, pushing the boundaries of abstraction in a way that feels fresh and exciting. It's a reminder that artists are always in conversation with one another, riffing on each other's ideas and pushing the medium of painting forward.
