Editor: So, this is "Untitled (from Collection Resonance)" by Monique Orsini, made in 2011 with acrylic paint. It strikes me as this sort of explosive blooming – not literally floral, but full of intense, swirling energy. Almost violently alive. What do you see in this piece? Curator: "Violently alive," I like that! It hits something. For me, it's less violence and more…utter abandon. Think of it: that freedom of the brushstrokes, the audacious clash of the reds against those somber, forest greens. It's almost a primal scream on canvas, isn’t it? Feels raw. Does it speak to any hidden feelings in you? Editor: Absolutely, this feels emotionally charged! There’s definitely a hidden wildness I relate to. The green especially gives it a natural almost chaotic sensibility. Why do you think Orsini chose this color palette? Curator: I suspect, like most artists worth their salt, it was less about a deliberate choice and more about the dance of intuition. Maybe that brooding green is a grounding force for that rampant red – desire, maybe? – struggling to stay rooted. And she seems like a person who lets their intuition speak very strongly. A beautiful and courageous quality in the artist. Editor: That’s fascinating. So, not necessarily a conscious decision, but more a dialogue with the colors themselves. The idea of grounding makes a lot of sense, the colors certainly create that effect for me. Curator: Precisely. It’s like catching a glimpse into someone’s soul…raw, unedited. Like overhearing a particularly juicy bit of gossip in a fever dream. The subconscious expressing itself. A peek behind the curtain! And that alone makes it worth lingering in front of. I leave changed by my experience of this one, for sure. Editor: This was wonderful, the feeling and emotion from the acrylic on canvas comes to life, thank you! Curator: My sincere pleasure, such emotion truly captures the essence of raw art. Thank you for being open.
