This is Stephen Prina's Blind No. 21, Seventeen-foot Ceiling or Lower Pyrrole Orange, Vat Orange (to Franz West) + PUSH COMES TO LOVE + Marino Formenti Wien, AT, and it’s a wild mix of color, material, and ideas. That intense orange? It’s not just a color; it's a statement, a kind of dare. The paint looks almost drippy, like Prina let it do its thing, which gives you a sense of process. And then there's the texture – you can almost feel the roughness, the physicality of the paint on the surface. Look at the bottom edge where that vibrant orange meets a stark white fringe. It's so abrupt, so unexpected, and that contrast is what gives the piece its energy. It reminds me a bit of Blinky Palermo's color field paintings, how he used simple forms and bold colors to create these almost meditative spaces. But Prina takes it a step further, adding this almost punk-rock edge. Art's an ongoing conversation, right? And Prina's definitely adding his voice to the mix.
