Editor: Here we have Marcel Mariën's "Peace During Wartime". It layers a pastoral scene onto a detailed map of Europe. There's a somber, almost unsettling juxtaposition. What's your interpretation? Curator: It's a fascinating collision, isn't it? The map, a symbol of division and conflict, overlaid by an image of apparent tranquility. I see a longing for peace, perhaps a naive hope amidst the harsh reality of war. Mariën seems to be asking, where can peace exist, if anywhere, in a world defined by borders and battles? Editor: So, it's not necessarily a celebration of peace, but more a questioning of its possibility? Curator: Precisely! A surreal commentary on the human condition. Makes you think, doesn't it? Editor: It definitely does. Thanks for the insights!
