Lillian Causey made this drawing of a muff with what looks like watercolor on paper. I'm drawn to the way she’s built up this form with delicate lines. It feels like she's letting the image emerge slowly, square by square. The colors are soft and powdery, like faded silk. You can almost feel the plushness of the muff through her careful rendering. The grid is superimposed over a pink form, adding a layer of complexity – a sense of both containment and openness. The details, like the ruffled edges and the little bow, are so tenderly observed. It’s as if she’s trying to capture not just the object, but also the feeling, the essence of it. This reminds me of some of Mary Cassatt's domestic scenes, capturing a similar sense of intimacy. Ultimately, this drawing leaves me with a sense of quiet appreciation for the small, everyday objects that surround us.
