Editor: This is Joe Tilson’s ‘Proscinemi, Delphi,’ from the Tate. It's a mixed-media piece with an image of shoes centered on a warm, textured ground, overlaid with text. What do you see in this piece? Curator: It’s fascinating how Tilson evokes Delphi, a place laden with history, through the symbolism of worn shoes and fragmented text. Do you notice how the ground resembles a well-trodden path? Editor: Yes, the texture does feel like a path. So, the shoes become a symbol for pilgrimage or journey? Curator: Precisely. The shoes, humble objects, carry the weight of countless journeys. Tilson invites us to consider our own paths, the traces we leave behind. Editor: I see it now! It's a beautiful reflection on history and personal experience. Curator: Absolutely. The artwork becomes a mirror reflecting our own journey through time and space.
