Editor: So, this is "C.P. Toluidine Toner," made by Imperial Paper & Color Corp. It seems to be a jar of pigment next to a color chart. It's surprisingly…clinical? How should we interpret this? Curator: Ah, it's a peek behind the curtain, isn't it? Imagine the vibrant hues birthed from this powder. It’s the DNA of color, if you will. Does this make you think about the origins of artmaking itself? Editor: I guess I didn't think about the individual components that make up a work of art. Curator: It's easy to get lost in the final product. But isn't there a certain magic in the raw materials? It reminds me of alchemy! It makes you wonder what other treasures are hidden in plain sight. Editor: I never thought of pigments as ingredients before! I'll definitely look at paint differently now.
