David Michael Hinnebusch built up "Sea Snore" from layers of drippy strokes in shades of yellow, black, white, and blue. It seems like it was made through trial, error, and intuition. I bet when Hinnebusch was making this, he wasn’t afraid to make mistakes, letting the painting shift and emerge organically. I mean, look at the way he uses thick paint to create these textures, especially around the mouth and eye, giving it a real physical presence! And that large eye on the right, with its staring gaze, says so much about the artist's own vision. I also see the echoes of other painters here, other visionaries like him. Painting is an ongoing conversation across time, where artists bounce ideas off each other and keep the creative spirit alive. This piece embraces ambiguity, allowing for multiple interpretations. It’s about process as much as product.
