This playful collage was put together by Carolina (Loentje) Frederika Onnen, and features a series of sepia photographs mounted onto card. You know, looking at these images, I can almost feel the chill of the winter air, hear the crunch of snow underfoot, and imagine the laughter of friends enjoying a snowball fight. I wonder if Loentje felt a pang of nostalgia as she carefully positioned each photograph just so – a little off-kilter to keep it interesting. What was she thinking when she framed these memories? Was she aware that she was capturing not just a moment in time, but also a feeling, a mood, a way of life? The way she has arranged the photos reminds me of Kurt Schwitters, someone who made the most incredible art out of found materials. Loentje's creation speaks to the ongoing dialogue between artists across time, each one building upon the ideas and experiences of those who came before. Like all art, it is about opening a space of imaginative interpretation.
