David Michael Hinnebusch made "Pops Kid and Chicken Little" in no particular year, and probably with acrylics and collage. Look at how those marks and colors are laid down! It's like the guy's not even thinking, just *doing*, which, for me, that’s where the real art happens, when you're just moving and reacting. I’m really drawn to the upper part, that wing-like shape. It’s built up with these juicy strokes of reds and oranges, kinda transparent in places, so it feels like it's breathing. It reminds me of some of those early Philip Guston paintings, that same raw energy. You can almost feel Hinnebusch just going for it, not worrying about whether it "looks good" but trusting his gut. Art's not about answers, it’s about asking questions and embracing the messy, beautiful, uncertain process of trying to figure things out.
