Pavlo Makov's large-scale artwork is a sprawling, dreamlike map made with ink on paper. It’s like a complex flow chart, each image carefully rendered, that seems to be mapping not a physical space but the circuitous routes of thought. I love how the different images, rendered in blue, red, and black, evoke so many different eras of image-making—scientific illustration, architectural drawing, and surrealist collage. What was Pavlo thinking, I wonder, as he built these graphic connections? The lines between the images look like the pathways in the brain, synaptic leaps made visible. Maybe it’s about the creative process itself, or how one image can trigger another, building up an entire network of associations. The way he combines detailed drawings with looser, more gestural marks reminds me a little of Cy Twombly. It's like Makov is showing us that art is a conversation, a beautiful and chaotic exchange of ideas across time.
