Rose Freymuth-Frazier’s, *Night Flyers* seems to have emerged from a place of both stillness and urgency through thin layers of oil paint. It’s an evocative scene, bathed in the glow of a setting sun where the sky bleeds into the earth and the artist’s vision. I imagine Freymuth-Frazier standing before the canvas, brush in hand, translating the visual experience into a field of layered colors. Look closely at the birds that punctuate the fiery sky and how each stroke communicates feeling and movement. It’s as if the artist observed the night flyers dancing in the sky and then responded with her own dance of brushstrokes, capturing the fluidity and dynamism of the scene. Painting is always a conversation between the artist, their materials, and the world. Freymuth-Frazier invites us to witness and participate in this exchange, where the observed and the felt merge into something new, a shared space of imaginative seeing. Just like those birds, artists take flight, soaring beyond the known and bringing back new ways of seeing.
