Cricorps made this digital artwork, Fleurs digitales, using I'm not sure what software, but the effect is of a kind of hard-edged but softened geometry. It's like pointillism gone polygon. I’m struck by the way the faceted surfaces capture and reflect light; this gives a kind of three-dimensional quality to the image, even though it's totally flat. Look at the way the triangles of color interlock. There’s a patch of deep purple on the upper right, it really pops because of the orange and green surrounding it. And those colors! They're so saturated. The whole thing shimmers like a stained-glass window. This kind of intense coloration reminds me a little of David Hockney's bright palette or maybe even some of those early computer graphics from the 80s. The picture plane here becomes a field of pure sensation. It feels very of the moment.
