Thomas Roma made this photograph, we don't know when, and titled it, simply, 'Untitled.' It shows a group of people, some looking on with compassion and others looking away or perhaps skyward, while a young boy bows his head, eyes closed, with his hands shielding his face. It makes me think about the places where we find solace or meaning. The photograph is deeply personal, capturing a moment of intense emotion and vulnerability. What does it mean to search for connection, understanding, or redemption in a world that often feels indifferent or chaotic? How do communities play a role in shaping our identities and beliefs? Is it an act of community? These are the kinds of questions that come up for me. Like many paintings, it embraces ambiguity. There is no right or wrong answer, just a space for contemplation.
