Editor: This is Nicolas Pitau's "Annunciation," made sometime between 1670 and 1724. There’s such a strong vertical emphasis that carries your eye upward. What strikes you most when you look at this print? Curator: For me, it’s the drama. Pitau really leans into the theatricality of the moment. The dove, the cherubic crowd, the beams of light… it's almost as if the divine is bursting into Mary's very human space. Do you feel that tension? Editor: I do, absolutely!
