Biography
Tillmann Stella was a German artist who created this detailed tree of genealogy, demonstrating how the world's inhabitants were related. The image is a woodcut print and is an example of the Renaissance use of scientific illustration. This image, which is a Genealogical Tree of the World, uses a hierarchical structure with God at the top and then branching downwards to include Adam, the first human, and other biblical figures. This image is a visual representation of the genealogical information found in the Bible and is typical of the kind of work that was done during the Renaissance as this era saw a great interest in both science and religion.
