Biography
Orthodox Icons are religious paintings, created by artists from the 4th century onwards in the Byzantine Empire and the Eastern Orthodox Church. The style is characterized by its flatness, use of gold, and stylized figures. The icons are often painted on wood panels and used in churches for devotional purposes. The tradition continues to this day, with icons still being created by contemporary artists.
