Biography
Michael Allison (1773-1855) was an American furniture maker who was known for his elegant and refined designs. Allison's work, primarily crafted in mahogany and maple, showcased the Federal style of the early 19th century. He is notable for his use of classical motifs, as seen in the lion's paw feet and lyre-shaped supports in some of his pieces, and for his intricate marquetry work. Allison's tables, chairs, chests of drawers, and other pieces are treasured by collectors today for their craftsmanship, aesthetic appeal, and historical significance.
