John Thomas Serres (1759-1825) was an English painter and draughtsman known for his maritime art, particularly his depictions of ships and seascapes. His work is characterized by its meticulous detail and attention to accuracy. Serres was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and held the position of Marine Painter to George III and George IV. His drawings often feature everyday scenes of fishing and sailing, with a focus on the working-class individuals involved in these activities.
