Biography
Jean-Baptiste Deshays (1729-1765) was a French painter known for his expressive and dramatic compositions. Deshays' works are characterized by their use of bold brushstrokes, vivid colors, and an emphasis on movement and emotion. His subjects often depict biblical narratives, such as the "Adoration of the Shepherds", and include figures rendered with a sense of dynamism and theatricality. Deshays' art, while influenced by the Baroque style, also displays a unique personal touch, evident in his dynamic figures and the skillful manipulation of light and shadow.
