Biography
Hermonax was a Greek vase painter working in the late 6th century BCE, during the Attic Black-figure period. His work is primarily recognized by the distinctive style in which he depicted figures, with slim and elongated features. The black-figure technique he employed involved painting the figures in black silhouette against a red clay background, often with details painted in white. Hermonax is credited with the production of various types of pottery, including lekythoi, amphorae, and kylikes, with subjects ranging from mythological scenes to daily life depictions. His works are considered to be among the finest examples of the late Archaic period, characterized by their exquisite craftsmanship and refined aesthetic.
