Lech Jankowski made "Letter to Mr Rumi" using paint on canvas, and it's a real beauty. The painting feels like a quiet conversation with yourself, you know? The top section is dominated by a rich, dark purple, almost like a deep thought, contrasted with lighter, almost silvery-grey tones below. I imagine Jankowski layering the paint, maybe scraping some of it away, building up a surface that's both tactile and elusive. Like he's searching for something just out of reach. There's a deliberate messiness to it that I appreciate—a kind of controlled chaos that reminds me of painters like Guston or even Twombly. I see the little bursts of orange in that purple section. Almost like little embers. It's like he's saying, "Hey, even in the darkest places, there's still a spark, still something burning." And that spark, that little flicker of light, connects us, as artists, to each other across time.
