Editor: Here we have a drawing by Mihai Olos. Its title is simply “Drawing” and is made of ink on paper. The loose, expressive lines make it feel really immediate and raw to me. What strikes you most when you look at it? Curator: What strikes me, beyond the quick, almost frantic energy of the line, is the intimacy, or perhaps, the forced distance between these figures. Olos captures a psychological drama with minimal means. Look how he defines their emotional states, using only a few lines. Editor: The figure on the left seems really distressed. The other two, I’m not so sure about. Is that the back of someone’s head? Curator: It is, or perhaps more than the head, the burden of their turning away. I sense Olos isn't aiming for straightforward representation but striving to capture the feeling of human connection and isolation simultaneously. Almost like a fleeting dream. Have you ever felt disconnected like that in a crowded room? Editor: All the time! So the sketchiness contributes to the sense of unease and unfinished business? Curator: Precisely. The lines aren't just describing figures; they're conveying emotional tension, and maybe the transient nature of such emotional experiences. Editor: It's fascinating how much emotion can be conveyed with so few lines! Curator: Indeed, it makes one wonder what story Olos was trying to tell or what feelings he wanted to capture. Perhaps it’s a story that’s still being written.
