Mantle c. 100 - 200

This mantle was created by the Nazca people using weaving techniques. At first glance, the mantle appears as a draped fabric, dominated by a dark, almost somber tone. Yet, upon closer inspection, the lower portion reveals a vibrant border of intricate patterns and textures, enlivened by a palette of red, gold, and muted greens. The composition of the Mantle suggests a visual tension between concealment and revelation, perhaps a metaphor for hidden cultural meanings.
