Study of Cows 

Editor: This is Robert Hills' "Study of Cows," currently residing at the Tate. I'm struck by the sheer number of these animals packed onto one page. What stories do you think Hills is trying to tell with this piece? Curator: Well, considering the historical context, particularly land enclosure movements, these studies resonate with anxieties about land ownership and agricultural labor. How might these seemingly docile creatures become symbols of resistance or dispossession within such a framework? Editor: That's a powerful perspective. I hadn't considered the social implications of representing these animals. Curator: Exactly! By examining art through this lens, we can better understand how artists engage with, and sometimes challenge, prevailing power structures. Editor: I’ll definitely remember to consider the socio-political context in future analyses. Curator: And I will remember that sometimes a cow is just a cow.
