Requena Nozal made "El fin es el fin," which translates to "The End is the End," presumably using acrylic and mixed media. It’s an intriguing title that suggests finality, yet the textures and colors at play here feel anything but resolved. Look at how Nozal builds up the surface; it’s rugged, almost volcanic. You get the sense of something both ancient and still in formation. The darkness is so complete, like peering into an abyss, but then there's this splash of bright orange – a strange little form floating in the darkness, a desperate attempt to be seen. This piece feels like it’s in conversation with Anselm Kiefer. Both artists aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, to use materials in a way that’s almost sculptural. But where Kiefer is grandiose, Nozal feels intimate, like a private meditation on endings and maybe, just maybe, new beginnings. Art, after all, isn't about answers; it’s about keeping the questions alive.
