This charmingly weird print, *Geschiedenis van een blauw hondje en een roode jongen,* came to life through the artistry of Gordinne. I imagine Gordinne, maybe an unsung hero of the printing press, carefully etching each frame, each character. There's a blue dog, and a red boy... and a whole world unfolding in these small panels. It’s like a storyboard for a play, where the rules are bent and anything can happen. You see the way the figures are drawn? Sort of stiff, sort of naive, but full of life. It reminds me of folk art, or maybe even the early days of comics. It's not about perfection, it’s about storytelling, about capturing a feeling. And the colors, those muted blues and reds, they’re like a memory, faded but still vivid. I’m feeling kinship with the art of Ensor here, or maybe Grosz...that space of the real but unreal...the stuff of dreams. It’s as if Gordinne is saying: come, let’s tell a story together.
