Bennett Jordan made this glass Ewer, but I don't have a date for you. It's a process of blowing and shaping and waiting. It's all so physical, you know? You can see at the base how the artist has added extra rings of molten glass, like the rings of a tree, marking its age. The surface is smooth, but you can see the subtle movements that have been captured in the material as it cooled. The transparency of the glass plays with light and shadow, creating an ethereal quality. It’s like the ghost of a vessel. There’s a Dutch still life quality to this object, something Giorgio Morandi might have put in one of his paintings. Like Morandi, Jordan embraces simplicity and repetition. It's not just about function, but about form and how we experience the world through our senses. It invites contemplation, doesn't it?
