Richard Tepe made this photograph of a crow's nest with eggs at an unknown date, using a camera and photographic materials. It’s all about texture, isn’t it? Look at the way the branches and twigs weave in and out, creating this chaotic yet strangely comforting structure. The neutral tones, almost sepia-like, add to this sense of naturalism and depth. The nest itself is this incredibly complex, almost abstract form. It’s as if Tepe is showing us the sheer labor and ingenuity that goes into building this safe haven. And then, nestled in the center, are these three perfect eggs. It reminds me of some of the landscape work of Alfred Stieglitz, with its focus on the natural world and its quiet contemplation. Ultimately, this photograph feels like a gentle reminder of the beauty and resilience of nature, and the endless cycle of life. There's a beautiful humility to it, you know?
