David Burdeny made "Vanish" with photography, but I feel like I could have made it with paint! I imagine David out there, squinting at the horizon. It must have been an act of patience and precision, waiting for the right moment to capture that light. It’s almost like he’s composing music! The pilings create a rhythm, a slow, steady beat against the quiet of the water. It reminds me of the subtle shifts in Agnes Martin’s grids or the quiet intensity of a Rothko canvas. There’s something melancholy about it, too, this vanishing point. But it’s also about hope, maybe? The possibility of what lies beyond, a quiet invitation into the unknown. We all play with similar ideas, hoping to find our own way of seeing the world, and showing it to others.
