Editor: This is Michael Raedecker's "tipping point," a large-scale triptych. It has a ghostly, almost ethereal quality. What structural elements stand out to you? Curator: The subdued palette and the division into three panels immediately draw attention to the formal qualities of the work. The linear elements, seemingly floating, disrupt the uniformity. How do you interpret their placement? Editor: They seem to both divide and connect the panels. I guess it's a balancing act between fragmentation and unity? Curator: Precisely. The artist employs a limited range of values to explore the dynamic interplay between surface, line, and division. Have you noticed how the subtle variations in the ground affect your viewing experience? Editor: I do now. It's like it creates depth without really having any. Thanks, I hadn't thought of that! Curator: Indeed, the materiality speaks volumes.
