Lucien Pissarro captured this sunset at La Pointe De Cougoussa with a sensitivity that really draws me in. The painting feels like a study in light and atmosphere, each brushstroke a whisper of color. Up close, you can see how he builds up the image with these tiny, individual marks. The canvas is alive with texture, a mosaic of gentle hues that blend and shift as your eye moves across the surface. I’m particularly drawn to the way the sky seems to glow, Pissarro uses this broken color technique, touches of peach and rose, to create a sense of luminosity. This makes the work feel so modern and full of experimentation. Looking at this, I think about Monet, naturally, but also maybe Turner, with his obsession with light and the sublime. It is so clearly part of this ongoing conversation, where artists like Pissarro took the baton and ran with it, always exploring, always pushing the boundaries of what paint can do.
