This is an untitled work by Jackson Pollock, made with ink on paper. You can see the energy of the artist, the hand, the wrist, the shoulder! The drawing is full of bold, drippy marks, thick blacks, and stark whites, which create a sort of drama. I see a face, and some figures, maybe from mythology, or the depths of the unconscious, but really, it's all about the act of drawing itself, the physical process of putting ink to paper. There are drips and splatters everywhere, which is something that makes me think about Helen Frankenthaler, whom Pollock inspired. You can feel the pull of gravity, the way the ink moves and settles. Each gesture looks urgent, like Pollock was trying to capture something fleeting, a thought, a feeling, a dream. It's not about perfection, but more about immediacy and expression.
