Abraham Palatnik made this work, Relevo em Vacum, I’m guessing, with ink or paint to create these really precise, fine lines. I can imagine Palatnik in the studio, maybe with a ruler, or some kind of system he's devised to get these lines so consistent. There’s a real sense of control and rhythm. You know, sometimes I find myself in the studio thinking about other painters, especially when I'm struggling with something. The contrast between the rigid vertical lines and the undulating curves is really striking. These lines are not just lines; they create a sense of depth and movement. He gets these lines to create a feeling, like the piece is breathing or vibrating. It's amazing how such simple elements can create a complex visual experience. It reminds me a little of Bridget Riley, but with a more organic feel. Painters are always building on what came before, pushing boundaries, and finding new ways to express themselves.
