Małgorzata Serwatka’s “Fighting Galaxies III” offers us a window into the cosmos seen through a personal lens. Born in 1960, Serwatka's artistic journey has been shaped by Poland's transformation, from its socialist past to its place in a globalized world. In “Fighting Galaxies III,” Serwatka uses color and form to create a sense of dynamic tension. The vibrant red sky clashes and merges with the earthy and white forms below, hinting at the complex interplay between forces. The title suggests conflict, yet the swirling brushstrokes evoke a sense of constant movement and re-balancing, not unlike the push and pull of political ideologies and cultural identities. Serwatka’s work reflects on how individual identity is formed and reformed in relation to society. The struggle within the galaxies mirrors our internal battles with external forces, with the painting becoming a space where personal and political narratives intertwine.
