Ronnie Landfield made this untitled painting with broad strokes of colour, almost like a landscape seen through a heat haze. The surface is alive with energy; look at the way he’s dragged the brush, leaving these streaky marks. It feels kind of spontaneous, like he’s not trying to be too precious. The paint seems pretty thin, maybe even watered down, which lets the colours bleed into each other a bit. I’m drawn to that big orange-red swipe at the top, it’s so bold and confident, anchoring the whole thing. The way he’s layered the colours creates a feeling of depth, like you could step right into the painting. It makes me think of Helen Frankenthaler, another painter who wasn't afraid to let the paint do its thing. Art's always a conversation, right? A back-and-forth between artists, ideas, and the messy, beautiful world we're trying to make sense of. It's not about having all the answers but embracing the questions.
