This photographic album presents a 'Portret en groep,' or portrait and group, made by an anonymous artist in an unknown location. The portraits, each encased in their own frame, are stacked. The act of photographing, you know, it's kind of like a painting process - trial, error, intuition, all that good stuff. I can't help but imagine what it was like for the photographer to be there, capturing these moments. There's a certain texture to the light, a quality to the surface of the image, that really shapes how we see it. How does it feel to be gathered together like that? What are they about to do? Like artists, photographers are in a constant conversation, sharing ideas across time and inspiring each other's creativity. Photography, like painting, embraces ambiguity and uncertainty, offering multiple interpretations and meanings.
