This photo, "Else Wachenheimer-Moos in de tuin met drie onbekende personen, 29 september 1928, Neurenberg?" was taken by an anonymous photographer in 1928. I bet they didn’t think it would end up in a museum! In both images, there is the same woman, presumably Else, sitting with friends. I wonder what the photographer was thinking about while taking the photo. What was the scene like? Were they all laughing? Maybe they were nervous, being captured in such a new way. There is always something stilted about a group photo, isn’t there? Though we don’t know the artist, in a way, it’s a record of their thought process. The photographer immortalized this moment for Else and her friends. And now it can be appreciated by so many others. It makes you think about all the other artists who have come before us, those unnamed creators who made the world a more beautiful place, inspiring us to make our own art.
