This is a gelatin silver print of "In de rozentuin van landgoed Pauw" by Geldolph Adriaan Kessler. I'm really taken by the way the light filters through the foliage, creating these soft pools of illumination. I can imagine Kessler wandering through this garden, captivated by the play of light and shadow, the texture of the leaves and petals under his fingers. It feels like he’s trying to capture a fleeting moment of beauty, a breath of summer air, you know? I wonder if he felt a sense of peace or maybe a little melancholy being in the garden? The act of observing, framing, and capturing becomes a way of holding onto a particular moment in time. I find that there's always something about gardens, they're cultivated, shaped, but ultimately wild at heart, full of possibility. Photography is an act of embodied expression which embraces ambiguity and uncertainty, allowing for multiple interpretations and meaning over fixed or definitive readings.
