This is Rodrigo Franzao’s "Abstract Proportion", and it looks to me like he has used found materials to construct it. I love the colours here. The brown grid in front of the canvas has a handmade feel, it's not quite square, and in behind are shapes that are almost primary - red, blue, yellow. There’s also a black circle, which is a really interesting addition to the simple colour palette. I think the texture of the objects is the most interesting part of this piece. You can almost feel the grid between your fingers and see the plastic stretching over the cream circle. I think that, by using these tactile found materials, Franzao gives the painting a unique sense of space and depth. It reminds me a bit of some of the work of Jessica Stockholder, who also puts found objects together and makes them into art, because art is just looking and thinking, right? It doesn't have to be anything, it could be this.
