Oleg Holosiy made "Love on the Beach," a painting, and what strikes me is how he approaches painting as a process. It's almost like he's building up a world, layer by layer. There's this overwhelming sense of texture, color, and surface here. The paint seems thinly applied, almost transparent, allowing the canvas to breathe. But then you notice a dense accumulation of marks in the centre, like a build-up of sediment. It's as though Holosiy is revealing the history of the painting, showing us its hidden layers. The brushstrokes, the layering, and the way the colors interact create this emotional undertow. I'm reminded of Gerhard Richter's blurred photographs, where the subject is both present and obscured, asking us to question what we think we see. "Love on the Beach" invites ambiguity and multiple interpretations, like all great art should.
