This is Olafur Eliasson’s One-way colour tunnel, and like much of his work, it is made with light, geometry and our perception in mind. The artist plays with colour and light to construct an immersive environment that challenges our sense of space and perspective, making us question what we see and how we experience the world around us. Here, the coloured panes create a space which is at once transparent and reflective. The crystalline structure of the tunnel is like a kaleidoscope, each facet offering a slightly different view, distorting and reassembling the light. The work is a conversation with artists like Josef Albers, who studied colour and perception. Eliasson shares Albers’s interest in how colour affects our perception of space, but he takes it a step further by creating immersive environments that engage our bodies as well as our minds. His work is an invitation to see, think, and feel differently.
