Pablo Picasso painted 'Jacqueline at the studio' with oils on canvas. Here, line and color create a network, almost like a stage set. I'm seeing how different forms of painting really do offer different ways of seeing, thinking, and experiencing the world. I find myself wondering what it would have been like to stand in the studio with Picasso, watching him work, and seeing how he built up these layers to create this space. Those flat planes of muted color create a composition that's more felt than seen, but with just enough information to convince you of what’s there. The surface seems scrubbed and the colors are murky, but somehow that adds to the mood. I think about how Picasso’s mark making is a form of embodied expression, embracing ambiguity and uncertainty, inviting multiple interpretations rather than some definitive reading. It makes me want to go make something, to join the conversation.
