This sheet of signatures was made by diverse hands, though we don’t know exactly when. Looking at these signatures feels like overhearing a conversation between strangers, each one with their own story, their own way of making their mark. There’s a real physicality to each one – the pressure of the pen, the speed of the hand, the little quirks and flourishes that make each signature unique. You can almost feel the weight of the pen in your own hand, the way it drags and flows across the page. Take “Kees Pércel” in the central column. The heavy, almost labored quality of the name set against the light and breezy signature of "Pleaco" below it. In a way, this piece reminds me of the work of Cy Twombly. Both embrace the beauty of imperfection, the poetry of the everyday. It’s a reminder that art isn’t just about grand statements and perfect execution, it’s about the messy, imperfect, and utterly human act of making.
