This is a sculpture called "Pieta. Moder med en falden søn" by Rasmus Harboe, probably made of clay or plaster, with a slightly rough texture. I'm imagining Harboe's hands on the clay, pushing and prodding. I see the mother's face, worn with worry, but her arms are strong, holding her fallen son. Is she grieving, or defiant? I wonder what Harboe was thinking when he made this piece. The pieta is such a classic subject, right? Like a painter doing another nude, trying to get to something essential. Maybe Harboe was trying to capture something about loss, about resilience, about the bond between mother and child. It's a conversation with Michelangelo, with Kollwitz, with all the artists who have grappled with this theme. But it’s also about the hands of the artist, and what they can do.
