Gyula Kosice made this suspended sculpture, ‘Deformación de la gota circunvalada’ from Perspex and water. It’s all about the beauty of simplicity, I think; how a few clear forms and simple components can create something so affecting. The way the shapes are suspended creates a feeling of lightness and the bubbles, caught in the centre, are like tiny jewels. It makes me think about Calder's mobiles, but with a futuristic twist. The clear material is so interesting; it's there, but almost not there, as if the sculpture wants to disappear into the space around it. The more I look at it, the more it seems to defy gravity, and reminds me that art is about experimentation and seeing where materials can take you. It's not about perfection, it’s about the process.
